The 2018 Spring meeting of the Western States Section of the Combustion Institute (WSSCI) will take place at Oregon State University – Cascades in Bend, Oregon.

Technical papers are solicited on all aspects of combustion and may cover a broad range of focus, from fundamental combustion phenomena to practical applications of combustion technology. Papers from industrial organizations are strongly encouraged.

Prospective authors should submit an abstract by 26 January 2018. Final papers should be submitted by 28 February 2018.

This meeting has a Code of Conduct that all attendees are expected to read and follow.

Student Travel Awards

The Western States Section of the Combustion Institute awards a travel stipend of up to $150 to each non-local student (travel distance > 50 miles) presenting a paper. Student presenters must apply for awards no later than 15 March 2018) to be considered for an award. To receive the travel award, the faculty advisor (or senior lab scientist) must accompany the student presenter to the meeting. To apply for a student travel award:​

  • Submit your abstract as instructed by the deadline
  • Fill out the online form with your information (after acceptation of abstract and no later than 15 March 2018)
  • Ask your adviser to send an email confirming you meet the following requirements
    • Membership in the Western States Section
    • ​​Oral presentation of a paper
    • Confirmed advisor attendance
    • Registration as a student at your home institution
